These documents include papers on AMGOT for Sicily and Italy; Civil Affairs Division policy book, official documents, speeches, correspondence on SHAEF organization and policy; documents about SHAEF operations in Austria, Belgium, France, Denmark, Luxembourg, Germany, Norway; documents from the Office of Military Government for Germany (U.S.), OMGUS; reports on the investigation of U.S. personnel practices in the Panama Canal Zone and materials pertaining to the International Labor Conference, Geneva in 1947. The Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force (SHAEF) was established in on Feb. 13, 1944 in London, England under the command of General Dwight D. Eisenhower. Following the invasion of Europe, SHAEF was moved to Versailles, France (Aug. 1944-May 1945), and later for Frankfurt, Germany. SHAEF was dissolved on July 14, 1945.
